NATURAL DEODORANT DOESN'T WORK?

NATURAL DEODORANT DOESN'T WORK?

Have you recently switched to natural deodorant, and still find that you’re experiencing odor breakthrough?  Read along to learn how to get better results.

The Difference Between Natural Deodorants & Antiperspirants

As a hygiene expert and product developer, I find that many people don’t understand the difference between natural deodorant and antiperspirantDespite widespread belief, sweating itself does not cause odor – it is the bacteria that develops from moisture sitting on the skin

Antiperspirants use aluminum chloride to block your pores, so you are not able to sweat as a result bacteria often never form Some would prefer not to use aluminum, so the alternative is deodorant without aluminum, but this does not work for everyone so here is a tip that many say has been a game changer!

So, What Is Underarm Priming?

You’ve heard about priming your face for foundation. It makes sense and totally works, your primer helps prep your skin to be ready for foundation and even helps your foundation to perform better. However, priming your underarms is a REAL thing.

Underarm priming is the process of using natural antibacterial soap formulated for bacteria prone areas BEFORE applying deodorant.

This is a CRITICAL step as what matters   is how long you wash your underarms and with what you wash your underarms is the key to longer wear-time with natural deodorant. The bar helps fight residue from the previous day and leaves an antibacterial film in the underarm region before you apply your deodorant.

Here's Why You Need to Prime Your Underarms

Our armpits naturally house a lot of bacteria. In fact, it is one of the most heavily populated areas of bacteria on our body and sometimes a heavily fragranced soap is not enough to keep your underarms fresh all day.

There are two main types of bacteria in your armpits:

Corynebacteria – The type that makes you smell

Staphlococcaceae – The least smelly bacteria

How to Prime Your Underarms

Prime the underarms in the shower by cleansing your armpits with a natural, antibacterial soap. Look for ingredients like apple cider vinegar and sea salt which create an inhospitable environment for odor-causing bacteria to grow.

If you have underarm hair, I recommend massaging the underarm bar around the hair follicles until you’ve covered the whole area, as that is where odor-causing bacteria tend to hide. For best results, let the lather sit for a few minutes while you cleanse the rest of your body.

The Bottom Line

This technique can seriously boost the performance of any natural deodorant – I call it the Daily Duo, and most people find it to be a total game changer. I’ve received incredible reviews for the underarm bar I developed, and honestly, the results speak for themselves.
