Why Coconut Oil Isn't So Great

Why Coconut Oil Isn't So Great

1. It’s COMEDOGENIC

coconut oil is a THICK oil, which means instead of being easily absorbed by your skin, it SITS on top of it. The layer of thick oil forms a film over your pores, making it hard for them to breathe and inevitably TRAPS BACTERIA and DEAD SKIN CELLS, leaving your pores CLOGGED 😱. If you have OILY or ACNE prone skin you should be staying as far away from coconut oil as possible.

And be careful! Coconut oil is snuck into a lot of beauty and skincare products these days. Look out for ingredients like “Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cocos Nucifera” in your ingredient lists.

USE MORINGA OIL INSTEAD

Still looking for a facial oil or makeup remover? My favourite is MORINGA oil, it’s full of vitamin C and E, great for BRIGHTENING and building COLLAGEN. It’s also anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory – a godsend for acne prone skin! The best part? It’s a lightweight oil and easily absorbed by your skin!

2. It STAINS clothes

Because coconut oil is so thick and isn’t easily absorbed by your skin it tends to transfer onto anything your skin touches. You might want to avoid NATURAL DEODORANT formulated with coconut oil. While the oil will give your deodorant that smooth, creamy application – it will also TRANSFER onto your favourite clothes, leaving an unsightly YELLOW RING around the armpits! .

Also, if you like to use coconut oil as a body moisturizer, make sure to give it time to absorb into your skin before jumping into bed or else you might find yourself with stained sheets!

My advice?

Opt for natural deodorants formulated without coconut oil like the #takesumidetox charcoal deodorant 😉 . And if you’re looking for a hydrating body oil, choose JOJOBA oil as it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave stains.
