FAQ's

You can store the ingrown bar on anysoap dish, or shower rack. If possible, you should store it outside the shower to keep it away from moisture and allow it to dry between uses.

Waxing the Bikini Line 

  • After 24 hours once the skin has calmed, use the bar 2–3 times per week. This helps prevent trapped hairs as they grow back and reduces post‑wax bumps. 
  •  Don’t use the bar the same day as your wax — the skin is too sensitized.  

Shaving the Bikini Line  

  • Before shaving (same day) In the shower, use the Ingrown Bar to gently exfoliate the area. This removes dead skin so hairs stand upright and shave cleanly. 
  • After shaving (24 hours later) Use the bar every other day to prevent ingrowns. Light pressure is enough — let the pumice + salicylic acid do the work. 
  • Don’t exfoliate immediately after shaving; wait at least 24 hours to avoid irritation. 

Laser Hair Removal 
Laser‑treated skin needs gentler, spaced‑out exfoliation. 

  • Before laser (24–48 hours prior) Use the Ingrown Bar lightly to remove dead skin so the laser can target follicles more effectively. 
  • After laser (wait 5–7 days) Once the skin is no longer tender, use the bar 1–2 times per week. This helps shed the “pepper spots” (the expelled hair fragments) and keeps follicles clear. 
  • Avoid Never use the bar on freshly lasered skin — it’s too reactive.

Used correctly, it will help. Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid that dissolves the bond between dead skin cells, which is exactly what's trapping the hair below the surface. Massaging the lather onto the bump for 30 seconds daily — gently, not aggressively — encourages the skin to release the hair naturally over several days. The Tea Tree oil simultaneously keeps the follicle environment antibacterial, reducing infection risk.

What makes it worse: scrubbing hard, picking at the bump, or using the bar on broken or infected skin. If an ingrown has progressed to a painful, pus-filled cyst, it's past the bar's treatment range and needs a dermatologist. For the garden-variety bump that appears a few days post-shave, the bar is exactly the right intervention.

The Ingrown Bar can help reduce groin odor because it removes dead skin, clears follicles, and reduces the bacteria that causes odor with Tea Tree Oil. 

Why it helps with odor 

  • Tea tree oil naturally reduces odor‑causing bacteria. 
  • Kaolin clay absorbs sweat and moisture, which is a major contributor to groin smell. 
  • Salicylic acid keeps follicles clear so sweat and oil don’t get trapped. 
  • Pumice exfoliation removes dead skin where bacteria tend to cling. 

Together, these ingredients make the bar ideal for sweat‑prone, friction‑heavy zones like the groin crease. 

How to use it for odor 

  • In the shower, glide the Ingrown Bar over the external groin skin (upper pubic mound, groin crease, inner thigh junction). 
  • Use light pressure — let the exfoliants do the work. 
  • Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. 
  • Use daily for odor control.   

What to avoid 

  • Do not use on mucosal tissue (inner labia or any internal skin). 
  • Do not use irritated, freshly shaved, or freshly waxed skin.

This is one of the most effective use cases for the bar. Razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae) are technically the same condition as ingrown hairs: hair that has curled back into the skin instead of growing straight, triggering a bumpy, inflamed response. Men with coarser, curlier hair are disproportionately affected, particularly those of African, Mediterranean, or Middle Eastern descent.

The Salicylic Acid and Tea Tree Oil combination addresses the condition the same way on facial skin as on the body. Use it on the affected area of the neck or face — not your entire face as a regular wash — massaging the lather in gently for 30 seconds, 3–4 times per week. The bar's formula is fragrance-free and free of skin-irritating SLS, which helps with the sensitivity of the post-shave neck area.

The Ingrown Bar helps prevent the inflammation that causes those dark spots in the first place, but it is not a brightening treatment for existing pigmentation. The dark marks left behind by healed ingrown hairs are post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) — the same mechanism as dark underarms from deodorant irritation. Once the active ingrown has been resolved, switch to a brightening ingredient designed for the area that you are experiencing pigmentation.

The bar doesn't contain any added fragrance — no synthetic perfume, no botanical fragrance blend. The scent you get is entirely from the tea tree oil itself, which is an active ingredient rather than a fragrance component. Tea Tree has a sharp, medicinal, camphor-adjacent smell that some people love and some find takes getting used to. It doesn't linger on the skin after rinsing, and the dried bar in your shower will have a noticeable scent. This is why it says it "stinks, but it works" — it's an honest trade-off. For people with fragrance sensitivities, this bar is actually a better option than many alternatives precisely because its smell comes from an active, not a fragrance blend.

HI Jose I am so sorry to hear you found the bar rough as it has very micronized exfoliation. The bar was designed for ingrown hairs and has a universal botanical antibacterial ingredient teatree oil which can me used to help with odor from sweat. We are happy to refund you if you were not happy

Thanks to Madame Sweat's social posts, I now really understand how different formulations of soaps are designed for different parts of the body. I get TERRIBLE razor burn - no matter what I do, I always get the pesky little shaving bumps on my legs and everywhere. I actually use this on my legs and it works wonders.
